Nvidia has just announced a new games publisher for its GeForce Now cloud streaming service: Bandai Namco, or more specifically Bandai Namco Europe. That’s probably why the first load of games to make it onto the streaming service appear to all be from European developers. Such as Little Nightmares, Little Nightmares II, 11-11 Memories Retold, and Get Even.
Little Nightmares II will also support RTX visuals, but only if you’re signed up to Ultimate and Priority GeForce Now tiers.
That’s another good haul for the game streaming service, which has been gradually winning back favour with major publishers after a few dismissed it early on. Though, I did get excited at the prospect of Elden Ring beamed to my many devices from the cloud only to realise shortly after that it’s not actually coming. Darn. Elden Ring would’ve been a great get for GeForce Now at the game’s launch, but even today I would be pretty keen to play it on my Samsung TV.
Speaking of TVs, there’s good…
Last month Path of Exile 2 was selected as the #9 Most Wanted game in PC Gaming Show: Most Wanted. The sequel to the long-running ARPG Path of Exile is coming soon, and with work on Path of Exile 2 now well underway, we flew to New Zealand to talk to developers at Grinding Gear Games about how they’re approaching a game that needs to be firmly rooted in the original while offering both new players and veterans something fresh and different.
“One of the things I’ve really enjoyed when designing Path of Exile 2 is just being able to surprise team members by the kind of changes we’re willing to do,” game director Jonathan Rogers said. When I suggested, ‘Hey, maybe we should have WASD controls for our characters as well as click-to-move,’ being willing to make those kind of changes to actually make the game better I think is something that’s going to really impress existing players, as well as new players coming to the game who maybe thought they weren’t interested in playing befo…

Counter-Strike recently celebrated its 25th anniversary, and is more popular than ever. The original Half-Life mod became a standalone title after Valve hired co-creators Minh “Gooseman” Le and Jesse “Cliffe” Cliffe, and since then has iterated and grown into the most popular competitive FPS on the planet, with over 30 million monthly players.
It’s an incredible feat of longevity, and the anniversary has brought forth a rare interview with Minh Le, who first began the project all those years ago when he was finishing up at university. Le has previously said it took him around a month and a half to program “beta one” of Counter-Strike, by which time Jesse Cliffe had joined the project to work on other elements including the maps.
Speaking to Norwegian site Spillhistorie.no, Le says the original concept for the game came about the year before he began work on the mod. “I came up with the idea of Counter-Strike in 1998,” says Le. “I was inspired by many of t…
In the words of PCG’s Tyler Colp, Diablo 4 took “a leap in the right direction” with the start of its second season this month, and now it would very much like you to come back and give it a go. That’s why the game is running a free trial until Monday, October 30, giving you a chance to mess around with dang near all of the game on Battle.net during our upcoming spooky weekend.
When I say “dang near all,” I mean it. From what I can tell, the only real restriction on this Diablo 4 free weekend is that your character level will max out at level 20 (rather than the game’s usual max of 100). Aside from that, Blizzard says you’ll have “access to all Diablo 4 content” and that any progress you make will carry over into the proper game if you decide to buy it for real.
And oh, would you look at that? Diablo 4 happens to be 25% off for Halloween. Pretty serendipitous, if you ask me.
Like, I imagine, the vast majority of people reading this, I prefer to keep my games on Ste…
Samsung is upgrading its Freestyle projector into a portable cloud gaming device, offering up to 100 inches of high-definition screen space without the need to lug around an actual screen.
The Freestyle Gen 2 comes with Samsung’s Gaming Hub, which gives you access to numerous cloud gaming apps like Xbox Cloud Gaming, Nvidia’s Geforce Now, and Amazon Luna. It’s the same gaming hub we’ve seen on the newer Samsung Smart TVs. Connect a Bluetooth controller (and have a membership to one of these services), and you’re ready.
The projector outputs at 1080p with a refresh rate of 60Hz, which is quite suitable for cloud gaming. The screen size can be adjusted from 30 to 100 inches, depending on the available projection surface. Aside from gaming, this projector has all the Samsung smart TV apps like Hulu and Netflix for watching movies, shows, and sports.
The Freestyle Gen 2 has a listed peak brightness of 230 ANSI Lumen, which is fine for a 1080p projector—yo…
After a surprise early access release yesterday, Hades 2 has already hit over 100,000 concurrent players on Steam, tripling the first game’s record on the platform.
Hades 2 hit 103,567 concurrent players earlier today and is hovering around 100,000, according to SteamDB. Hades 1 only reached 37,749 concurrents in 2020, a few days after its full launch on Steam.
The first Hades is one of our favorite roguelike action RPGs and has won several awards, including a few BAFTAs. But its 2019 early access release was exclusive to the Epic Games Store; it didn’t come to Steam until it was finished. Hades 2, however, is available on both from the start, which helps explain the larger turnout.
All the fans of Hades’ flirty Greek gods and goddesses and satisfying combat are probably showing up, too. And it helps that Hades 2’s early access release is far more complete than I think anyone expected it to be.
Supergiant Games has already spent three years working on it, and…
